Pacific Scientific
Pacific Scientific, established in 1955, was a pioneering force in advanced motion control technologies. Headquartered in Rockford, Illinois, the company specialized in designing and manufacturing high-performance electric motors, including brushless servo motors, stepper motors, and related drive systems. Their products were essential to a wide range of industries, including aerospace, defense, medical devices, and industrial automation.
In 1998, Pacific Scientific became part of Danaher Corporation, a global science and technology innovator. This acquisition allowed Pacific Scientific to leverage Danaher’s extensive resources and expertise, further enhancing their product offerings and market reach. However, in 2011, Danaher divested the Pacific Scientific Aerospace business, leading to the sale of the Pacific Scientific brand and logo. As a result, many of Pacific Scientific’s motor and drive families were rebranded under the Kollmorgen name, continuing to serve industries worldwide.

Today, Pacific Scientific’s legacy continues through the Kollmorgen PacSci product line, which includes rugged NEMA 34 and 42 hybrid stepper motors designed to deliver extremely high torque. These units are available with standard options and co-engineered modifications for precise application fit. While new Pacific Scientific-branded motors are no longer manufactured, many of their products remain in service, supported by dedicated repair and maintenance services.
